We’re back from a fantastic few days at London Bridal Week and we’re so excited to share all the upcoming trends we spotted on the catwalks for 2018. Be prepared to be inspired if you’re getting ready to go shopping for your dream gown…

We’re kicking off our trend report with the biggest trend of the year so far. Capes. They were everywhere during fashion weeks in 2017 and they’re finally making their way from the catwalk to the aisle.

While some brides might consider this accessory as an overly dramatic piece to incorporate into their look, we are absolutely loving the trend and see it as a great alternative to other statement pieces such as the veil.

The cape is a great way to change up your look on your wedding day. Like a veil, you might opt to remove the cape at certain points of the day or perhaps choose not to add the cape until later in the evening.

It’s also becoming more popular for brides who are looking for a more flowing effect down the back of your dress or who are looking to cover their shoulder and arms if their dress is unable to accommodate that.

Thinking of the cape? Then check out our gorgeous Helga by Ronald Joyce.

From 3D appliques to fluttering feathers, statement embellishments on your wedding dress is the next big trend for 2018.

Wedding dresses are no strangers to embellishments but this year, it’s going up a notch. Appliques on gowns are popping out of dresses, beading is adorning the entirety of the dresses and fringing and feathering is the go-to detailing of the season.

We have so many amazing dresses in-store now that hit the nail on the head with this trend but two of our favourites are Odessa 51301 by Madeline Gardner New York and West 1710 from Blush by Hayley Paige.

Odessa is the ultimate princess dress and genuinely looks like its just came from a Disney film. This tulle ball gown boasts stunning hand-cut, crystal beaded, three dimensional floral appliques.

West on the other hand is completely opposite but still gives the same wow-factor. This Ivory Marrakesh beaded fit to flare gown is embellished from top to bottom and a firm favourite with #BijouxBrides.

Traditional bridal styles can’t be forgotten, and modesty is making a comeback. Dresses this year are notably more demure, with a move towards a more timeless look that cover modesty.

Gone are the days when flesh baring gowns were all we could talk about. Brides are looking for high necklines and covered shoulders to wear down the aisle.

Another great way to channel this trend is through long sleeves and we have the perfect gown for it. Check out the stunning Valentina from Justin Alexander.

Ivory is no longer the go-to wedding dress colour for many of our brides and we are seeing more colours introduced with every new collection. Designers are no longer limiting themselves to ivory, champagnes and sand. Blush pinks, powder blue, red and black are becoming more popular as brides brave bold tones for their big day.

We’re so excited to see this Blush by Hayley Paige gown hit our store in September. Watch this space for a few more colours including rose gold and black!
