You might recognise #BijouxBride Emma from our Bijoux Plus photo shoot (her face pops up on the website a bit!). We’re following Emma’s exciting journey in the year leading up to her wedding this September. We hope it might give brides an idea of what to expect as their big day approaches. I found my dream dress in Bijoux and can’t wait to try it on again. Right now, I’m hoping that my body hasn’t changed too much from when I got measured up for it…

My journey with Bijoux started last July when I took my mum and sister to help me find my dress. There were so many dresses to choose from. Having tried on lots of the gowns, I thought it was going to be difficult to find what I wanted. However, having the support from my mum and sister that day made it easier. I wish all my wedding planning was so simple!

We’ve come across a few issues throughout the wedding planning process. When my partner and I got engaged, I bought a kilt I knew he could use on our wedding day.  Picking the tartan was easy cause he often hired the same kilt for weddings. Unfortunately, since then the shop has now closed. It was the shop’s own tartan so we are in the process of tracking down the owner to see if he has any stock left so we can dress our groomsmen in the same one. If we can’t get it, it might mean a whole new tartan for our wedding and result in a full new colour scheme favours and wedding stationery as well – it’s giving me such a headache!

We also went ring shopping just before Christmas. I was hoping for a fun experience but discovered I also have plus-size fingers. At the time I had to try the rings on my pinky and balance my engagement ring beside it to see if it worked together. I wish the whole process was as easy as picking my wedding dress at Bijoux – it was such a great experience! I finally managed to pick a ring that I love. It’s a beautiful eternity claw setting diamond ring. I can’t wait to pick it up when it’s ready. It will be one more thing I can tick off my list.

In regards to the rest of my wedding plans, at the moment I have managed to book all my professionals for the day – hair stylist, makeup artist, our humanist, photographer and florist – so that’s another weight off my mind. I have also picked out our invites and favours for our guests so I’m starting to feel really organised.

On our to-do list at this point, we’re looking to order our wedding cake, decide on favours for the children at the wedding and obviously sort out the kilt dilemma. In regards to my dress, I would also like to check my measurements again to see what I was when the dress was ordered and survey the damage that was done over Christmas & New Year. My dress should be arriving soon at Bijoux so alterations will be part of my next appointment there.  We will also start to confirm everything with our venue and make sure everything is coming together.

Thing’s I’m looking forward to in the next couple of months include a spa day I have planned in for family and bridesmaids for my hen and then have another big party for games and drinks before my big day. There’s lots to get excited about this year.

Roll on September!
