To celebrate the launch of our brand new flagship store, we’re taking a look back at our beautiful Bijoux Brides who bought their gown from our Cadzow Street store over the years.

Nicole and Alex share their love story with us below…

Bijoux Bridal: Where did you and Alex meet?

Nicole: I met my husband seventeen years ago when we both worked at Edinburgh Airport. We dated for a while but then he moved back to Manchester a few months later. Fourteen years later he added me on Facebook and we got chatting again. He asked me to be his girlfriend before we had even met back up again.

Soon, we were travelling between Manchester and Edinburgh whenever we could – this went on for two years. Eventually, Alex moved up to be with me in Edinburgh

BB: Tell us about the engagement Nicole! How did it happen?

N: Alex proposed to me when we were on holiday for Christmas and New Year in Fuerteventura.

The planning for the wedding started as soon as we got home – we were only ever engaged for 15 months so it was a bit of a whirlwind!

BB: So when it came to picking your dream dress, what was your experience and how did you decide on “the one”?

N: I had been to a few bridal shops in Edinburgh with my Mum but nothing made me go “wow”. My brother’s girlfriend highly recommended Bijoux Bridal so we decided to make a girly day of it with my Mum, Aunty Margaret, my two bridesmaids and Emma.

What a choice – we had so many dresses to choose from. Even though I had tried on so many different styles already, I still didn’t know what I suited. Although I knew I wanted something different that no-one would have expected me to pick.

Eventually, I found my dress. It was the first dress I had actually cried over. I never believed that you knew when it was “the dress” but with this dress I did.

BB: What was your experience at Bijoux Bridal in particular?

N: The girls in the shop were amazing – so helpful and didn’t rush me at all. My wedding party got to relax with a glass of fizz and enjoy all the smiles with each dress I tried on.

I felt so amazing on our wedding day and my husband said the dress was nothing like he thought it would be. He cried even though he isn’t the most sensitive of guys. Thank you again for everything. I’m loving married life!
