To celebrate the launch of our brand new flagship store, we’re taking a look back at our beautiful Bijoux Brides who bought their gown from our Cadzow Street store over the years.

Nicola and James share their love story with us below…

Bijoux Bridal: Where did you and James meet?

Nicola: We met in 2004 after we were invited, separately to my cousin’s BBQ. I noticed that James was continually looking over at me and it turned out he was looking over because he thought I was “full of myself”! As the night went on he got to know me a little better and soon his opinion changed. We talked all night and it felt like I had known him forever.

We met again at T in the Park a month later but nothing happened and a few months after the festival I found out James was in a relationship. Two years passed and James got in touch with me but this time I was in a relationship. It wasn’t until years later when we went on holiday together as friends that we got together.

BB: Tell us about the engagement Nicola! How did it happen?

N: In 2011, we climbed Ben Nevis to raise money for Cancer in support of my friend Louise and made a pact that we would climb Ben Nevis every year after that. We returned to climb it again a year later on 26th May 2012. James had packed the ring in his rucksack before we headed up the mountain with our friends.

I remember being annoyed as James lagged behind on the way up – little did I know he was full of nerves at the prospect of proposing. I hurried ahead in the beautiful sunshine and left him behind on his own. When we made it to the top James asked for a photo on the summit. As we posed for the picture, James got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I saw the ring and was delighted and of course I said yes!

To add to the surprise, James had also packed two t-shirts in his rucksack which both read on the front “Just Engaged” with the addition of “Off the Shelf” on my t-shirt!

BB: So when it came to picking your dream dress, what was your experience and how did you decide on “the one”?

N: I was lucky enough to fall in love with the first dress I tried on, in the first shop I visited. I am so grateful for it as there is no other feeling like it. As they say “when you know, you just know!”

BB:  So you had the perfect engagement, you’ve found your dream dress… but what about your wedding?! What did you love most about your day?

N: The best part of my wedding day was being in Glen Coe, on the hottest day celebrating with my closest family. My son Harrison turned two years old the same day which was very special. I LOVED wearing my dress and being located in the mountains for our photographs and video. We could not have had a better day.

BB: What was the best part of your experience at Bijoux Bridal?

N: My experience was fantastic, from start to finish the girls really looked after me.  The girls knew by looking at me what colour would suit, they found out what I liked and catered for all my needs. They really know their stuff and are so professional. I cannot thank the staff enough for helping make my day so special. If you are looking for the perfect dress then choose Bijoux.
