Our gorgeous #BijouxBrides share their Bijoux Love Story with us every month. Check out our latest love story below from Debbie and Christopher…

Bijoux Bridal: Where did you and Christopher meet?

Debbie: My husband and I met at school. He was my friends brother’s best friend and I chased him since I was 14 years old. He definitely played hard to get but I remained persistent and after a few years of grafting he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Now here we are years later with a beautiful son together.

BB: Tell us about the engagement Debbie! How did it happen?

D: Christopher gave me the most amazing engagement. He proposed to me at the Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow.

He had surprised me with an overnight and my friend treated us to the executive suite in the hotel which included a spa treatment and beautiful meal. The next morning a limo picked me up at the hotel which I assumed was just taking us home but we stopped at our favourite restaurant. When we arrived my mum, sister and friends were all standing outside and they all got into the limo (I was still oblivious with what was going on). The driver played all of our favourite songs in the limo and took us back to the Blythswood Square Hotel where my stepdad was waiting with a room key. I still genuinely didn’t have a clue what was happening so they sent me up to my room and when I got out of the life I could smell Christopher’s aftershave. I just knew I was opening the door to see him.

I walked into the room which was covered with flowers and candles and Christopher was down on one knee. He proposed and it was amazing. I was showered in gifts and then took back to my parent’s house for a party followed by a fireworks display at night. It was the most amazing day.

BB: So when it came to picking your dream dress, what was your experience and how did you decide on “the one”?

D: Finding my dream dress was actually harder than I had expected. I knew I wanted an off the shoulder, matt lace fit and flare gown but finding all of this in one gown was quite difficult.

Bijoux was the first shop I visited and on that visit I tried on “my dress” although it was in a different colour and neckline to the one I eventually ordered. I loved it but continued to look elsewhere. I ended up comparing every dress I tried on to that dress and nothing ever came close to it.

Louise from Bijoux advised me that I could make the dress off the shoulder and that’s exactly what I did. I ordered extra tulle and lace and with the help of the amazing seamstress Yan we created Bardot sleeves. I just completely fell in love with the dress. She altered it to perfection. I can’t thank her enough. Her work is impeccable and I couldn’t imagine wearing another dress. It was a one of a kind dress and I’m so happy I got to design part of it.

BB: So you had the perfect engagement, you’ve found your dream dress but what about your big day? Tell us about it!

D:  We got married at St. Patricks Chapel in Coatbridge and our reception was in the stunning Radstone Hotel.

Our ceremony was everything we dreamed of. The music blew us away… actually speaking of blowing away – just before I entered the chapel my veil blew off my head and literally flew 30 feet into the air. It was the most horrendous feeling but a gust of wind carried it back down. It was like something out of a film. I’ve never been so relieved to get something back.

My favourite memory of the day was my husband’s speech. He completely took my breath away with the way he delivered it and the way he spoke about me. It just made me love him that little bit more. It was out of this world. Holding one another’s hand in church was also very special as it was after our vows and it was just one of those moments that you can’t explain. Our wedding was everything we dreamed about and more.

BB: If you could recommend Bijoux to another bride, what would you say?

D: Bijoux Bridal was one of the most stunning bridal shops I’ve visited and believe me I’ve seen a few. The experience was just lovely. We were given a glass of bubbly and some chocolate which just adds a special touch to the whole experience. The shop is immaculate and their selection of dresses are honestly second to none. Coming from a bride who knew what she wanted… after trying on a few dresses at Bijoux I was like “uh oh… this has thrown a few spanners in the works haha”.

I absolutely recommend Bijoux, I can’t fault them in any way!
